Basic Module Primary Sort Menu
Most modules use a basic SORT menu that includes options for alpha (A-Z) and reverse-alpha (Z-A) record sorting by field. Click SORT to access the dropdown menu as shown in the example for the Contacts module below.
A-Z - Mouseover this option to view a list of field choices for sorting in Ascending order
[alphabetically or numerically sorted least to greatest]
Z-A - Mouseover this option to view a list of field choices for sorting in Descending order
[alphabetically or numerically sorted greatest to least]
NOTE: The currently selected sort is designated with a star
Direct Spreadsheet Sorting
Regardless of the options listed in the primary SORT menu for each module; is is always possible to SORT ANY FIELD in the spreadsheet by right-clicking within the desired column and selecting from the popup menu as shown in the screenshot below.
In any module, the primary sort menu can be used in conjunction with the direct spreadsheet sort option to implement a secondary column sub-sort.
- Apply a primary sort option from the main sort menu
- Apply a direct sort option from the right-click sort menu
IMPORTANT: When the direct sort option is applied in step 2, it will become the new primary sort, while retaining the previous menu selection as a secondary sub-sort.
Works Module Primary Sort Menu
The Works module SORT menu includes extensive options for A-Z and Z-A record sorting by field, in addition to a Custom Sort feature. Click SORT to access the dropdown menu as shown in the example for the Works module below.
Works Module Custom Sort
Within the Works module only, click SORT>Custom Sort to open the Works custom sort window.
Click to select any row in the grid, then use the arrow buttons at the left side of the window to move that record up or down within the set. Use the Apply button to set the sort order as the current spreadsheet view, and the Reset button to start again. Click Close to exit the window.
IMPORTANT: Custom Sort is not intended for use with All Works. Before using this feature, be sure to limit the number of records in the spreadsheet view with a ViewSet, Worksheet, or Marked Works set.
